School Activity Holidays and School Field Study Trips

Fun and enjoyable school trips

Looking for a quality, safe, activity or field study trip with a tailored program, high student to instructor ratio in North Cornwall – then look no further! The Manor House offers an alternative from the usual large centre mayhem and provides quality courses with personal attention.  We are one of the very few centres that can provide sole occupancy for your group which can seriously benefit your students. Many of our Independent Prep Schools return year on year for this very reason. We believe that our centre cannot be beaten on safety, quality of courses and accommodation, individualised tailored programmes, instructor to student ratio and dedication from our hand picked highly qualified team.

Key features of our Centre are:

A Professional Outdoor Centre

We are a professional outdoor centre offering a quality service to all our clients; we are an AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) licensed and BCU (British Canoe Union) Approved Centre so excellence can be assured.

Schools courses at The Manor House are tailored to exactly meet each group’s individual requirements. We offer Multi-activity, Field Study Courses and single Activity Development Courses where a chosen activity can be taught to develop skills and competencies and perhaps to gain qualifications. At other times, we also offer Family Activity Holidays, Hen Activity Weekends, Team Building, and Outdoor Instructor Training.

Small groups ensure that the best personal development and teambuilding opportunities exist for each student.

We offer full week and shorter courses throughout the year. Each itinerary is developed with a group to exactly meet their requirements; the timetable is agreed prior to the course.

Activity or Field Study – courses can be combined to gain the best of both worlds!

Field Study Trips are also very popular which could focus on any number of different aspects that Cornwall has to offer:

Coastal Areas -  weathering, erosion etc, viewing stacks, arches and blow holes

Beaches - rock pool study, beach studies, marine wildlife

Economic Studies - affects of tourism on the local area, affect of Rick Stein on Padstow

Eden Project provides a vast array of study opportunities and we are lucky it is very close and we have a great working relationship with the Education Team. A number of studies can be made with or without the use of an Eden Workshop  – Plant Diversity, Recycling & Global Warming, Fair Trade etc

Some schools also choose to use the Manor House as a Field Study Base organising their own study visits and activities. One of our rooms is often turned into a laboratory for marine experiments and the main dining room becomes a classroom complete with interactive whiteboard, flip charts and reference books.

We help with the planning and organisation of your trip to save you time!

Teacher Resources are provided to supplement a course when required and these include worksheets, questionnaires, and teacher resource packs from galleries/aquariums/Eden Project as required.

All arrangements are made by us to ensure that the time you need to spend on planning your course can be kept to a minimum. We arrange all the visits and activities intended for your course and all the associated costs are included in the cost of the trip.

Risk Assessments are provided on request for all the activities included in your itinerary and copies of insurance and licenses can also be supplied.

Transport can be provided throughout the trip and discounts may be given for Schools choosing to provide their own transport. All of our drivers are minibus qualified and the centre has a PCV Licence. Collections can be arranged from Bodmin Parkway Train Station and Newquay Airport at no additional cost.

Lashings of Delicious Home Cooked Food provided!

Delicious Home Cooked meals are provided each day which cater for all special dietary requirements. Two course dinners are offered with ample amounts for second helpings, as appetites are often improved following a day in the outdoors! Continental breakfasts are provided with tonnes of cereal and toast along with orange juice, tea and coffee.

Picnic lunches are supplied each day which again cater for special dietary needs and to ensure that the lunches are just what you fancy – loads of sandwich fillings are provided for you to select your own individual sandwiches each day. Currently, ham & Jam and peanut butter with chocolate spread are the favourites!! Yeuch! Cold drinks are also available throughout the day along with a selection of fresh fruit. Hot drinks are also provided free of charge throughout your stay.

Action Packed from Morning ‘til Night!

Morning, afternoon and evening activities are planned each day according to your individual itinerary. Sessions tend to be from 9.30am to 12.00 and 1pm to 3.30pm with return to the Manor House by about 4.30pm. Dinner is served at 6pm and evening activities start at 7pm to 9pm.

There are a number of activities that we offer from which you can select your favourites. Each session is a quality session, giving each child time to learn the skills required and then to practise the skills whilst enjoying the activity. Don’t be fooled by Centres offering 6 activities every day or 40 activities in a week; time allowed for each activity will not give the children chance to learn the skills and then to practise them before moving on to the next session. They may get to try many activities, but what value will each actually give your students?

ACTIVITY COURSES/HOLIDAYS MAY INCLUDE:

Sample itineraries can be provided. Call /email Lesley to request one.
