The Extra Mile with Your Training:
Most importantly, we don’t just train you to pass the Outdoor Instructor Course qualifications. We train you to work as a professional instructor in the outdoor industry, and to be the ideal candidate for employers on completion. This is what sets us apart as a training provider.
We take pride in giving you training in 'soft skills' as well as the necessary outdoor skills. You will develop an 'Instructor Tool Kit' of experience and information to enable you to operate at a higher level than recruiters expect. This can make a big difference in finding your dream job and progressing swiftly within the industry. Some of our ex-students progress to management trainee status within 18 months of completing the course.
As part of this process, we offer careers advice, CV preparation and interview techniques as standard for all of our students. This will leave you well prepared and supported through the application procedure for employment.
Statistically, 95% of our students will have job offers before the end of the course, with 100% employment usually achieved within a month of completion! Our students have the pick of the best jobs and many of the students have more than two job offers prior to course completion!
A Superior Equipment Package:
Your equipment package contains only quality outdoor equipment from well-known manufacturers that will last for many years if looked after. We don’t believe in settling for second best when it comes to your kit bag, so before you settle on your course provider, ask yourself about the quality of the kit you are getting, and check what is included. And, of course we pass on our trade prices to our students, subsidising the package heavily.
Facilities and Training Equipment:
Our theory sessions take place in the warmth and comfort of the training room at the Manor House, which is equipped with high quality audio-visual aids and computers to aid the learning experience. Effective training requires space and comfort to promote concentration, so we always make a separation between the practical field work and the academics, giving you the very best chance at both. The indoor study sessions also allow the greatest opportunity to learn from each other during workshops and seminars.
You will be transported to the various training locations in our well maintained minibuses, driven by our qualified PCV drivers; locations include Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, North and South Wales. This transportation is included in the cost of the course, and we certainly don’t expect you to find your own way to training locations!
Manor House Activity and Development Centre are one of the few Instructor Training Course providers who own their own luxury accommodation. Our Manor House is no cold draughty Youth Hostel or a tiny holiday cottage for you to cater for yourself at the end of a tiring day out in the elements. You will live in comfort, with all of the facilities you need to be at your very best during each day of training. We offer heavily subsidised quality onsite accommodation within the Manor House, including full board, three meals a day, 7 days a week, for the 16 weeks of training. All for less than £13 per day!
Hate wet clothes? We do too, which is why at the end of the day your kit can be dried in our huge drying room here on site. We operate as a professional outdoor activity and adventure centre 12 months of the year, and as such we have all of the facilities to function in all weathers!
And lastly, (but for our students' fun and enjoyment, by no means least) A MASSIVE SEVEN PERSON HOT TUB FOR STUDENTS TO USE! Well, Why Not? After a cold wet day in the great outdoors what could be better than a soak in a hot tub before dinner is served?
An Outdoor Learning Industry Leader:
Our business was established in 1986, and we’ve been running the Outdoor Instructor Course for the last 9 years. That means we have a proven track record in students completing the course and going on to successful careers. Come and visit us, be sure that we can deliver, and see for yourself just how well equipped we are to deliver this training for you.
Our reputation means that students from Manor House Activity & Development Centre are sought after in the industry. Employers have been known to visit the centre during the course to encourage students to apply for jobs within their businesses!
"Hi Lesley, In 2013 we employed two instructors who had recently completed your trainee Instructor course, Elsa & Ben. We were very pleased with their standard of coaching and were able to continue mentoring them into newly qualified & experienced activity Instructors, particularly Elsa, who now has the SPA, and three different 3 stars to her name.
We are looking for new instructors for the 2015 season and would be enthusiastic about any of your course leavers from recent courses applying for 2015.
This is of course an endorsement of the course you deliver and the quality of instructors you finish with.
We would be particularly interested in anyone who holds the beach life guard & who would want to pursue there SPA or UKCC L2 awards. Thanks"
Steve Bean, Senior Instructor, Llain Activity Centre
